The great thing about Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., is that it’s a great playground for back story. Having provided more layers for the (spoiler alert for some) attempted Hydra takeover of S.H.I.E.L.D., which was the main plotline in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the agents spent most of the second half of the season on the run. This was around the same time Hydra was getting its collective butts handed to them by Steve Rogers and company. Much was left up in the air, including the fate of traitorous S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Ward. And ABC is going to be wasting no time hitting the ground running with yet another high profile acting get, by casting?G.I. Joe starA drianne Palicki as fan favorite super spy Bobbi Morse (aka Mockingbird).
Palicki is the latest in a series of high-profile castings for the sophmore ABC action series, which has included Kyle MacLachlan, Lucy Lawless, and Reed Diamond as Hydra villain Daniel Whitehall. There are plenty more others, prompting a ton of fresh faces, and we’ll also see the return of fan favorite Patton Oswalt, who plays “life models” Billy/Sam Koenig. He appeared in a cool preview clip at San Diego Comic-Con last month obsessing over security lanyards and hinting that Agent Bobbi Morse would be showing up.
The series should pick up shortly after where it left off, with Hydra on the run and Agent Coulson being named by Nick Fury to be the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. to rebuild the agency and rise it from the ashes like a Phoenix. And as quick as he appeared, Fury disappeared into the ether (and into the plot line for The?Avengers: Age of Ultron).
I was so grateful to get to play Wonder Woman. That was a childhood dream of mine and I'm proud of the outcome. I do wish it would have gone to series but everything happens for a reason. Looking at it as a positive, I got to work with some amazing actors, [an] amazing writer and I got to wear the outfit.??- Palicki to CraveOnline
In addition to her presumably recurring guest star role as Agent Morse,?Palicki will also return for a second season of the NBC Comedy “About a Boy.” Palicki also played Wonder Woman in the failed David E. Kelley pilot for NBC back in 2012, so Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will mark her return to the comic book realm. She is also set to reprise her role as Lady Jaye in G.I. Joe 3, which looks to change it’s focus and hone in on the storyline of Dwayne Johnson’s “Roadblock” character. It’s due out in 2016.
