Daniel Radcliffe has taken yet another bold step to shake off his child star image. In Horns, the Harry Potter actor plays a young man wrongly accused of the rape and murder of his girlfriend.

As you can see, the movie has a supernatural element with Radcliffe’s anti-hero sprouting horns in his quest to uncover the truth about his girlfriend and clear his name.
Directed by Alexandre Aja (Mirrors), the film looks refreshing, something which is fairly impressive in the well worn genre of horror.
As for Radcliffe, if he is ever going to bury Potter, he is certainly going about it in the right way. The fact is the British star does not have the screen charisma to be a traditional leading man, however taking on unconventional roles in scary movies could definitely give his career some longevity.
His last horror outing, The Woman in Black, was a box-office success, grossing a highly impressive $127 million worldwide from a modest $15 million budget.
Horns also stars Juno Temple as Radcliffe’s late girlfriend, Heather Graham, and Max Minghella.

The movie premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and divided critics, although it’s mix of black comedy and horror is a combination which is nearly always polarising.
Radcliffe’s U.S. fans will have to wait as Horns has yet to receive an official North American release date, however the film will be released in the UK on October 31st.
