Forget Freddy or Jason, there is nothing more scary than real life monsters such as drug kingpin Pablo Escobar.
The infamous Colombian is now the subject of a new film, Paradise Lost, starring Benicio del Toro as Escobar and Josh Hutcherson as a young American who is dating Escobar’s niece.
While the trailer is very short, it does a good job of setting up the premise, which is essentially a thriller/horror movie, featuring one of the most sadistic and ruthless men of the 20th century.
Indeed Escobar wasn’t just the world’s biggest cocaine dealer, he was also a terrorist, who blew up commercial planes and detonated car bombs in busy public areas, which were often intentionally placed near areas where children would gather.
In short, this was a man that no one would want to cross, let alone a young surfer who has unwittingly fallen in love with the wrong girl.
This is a movie which could pack a punch, and first time director Andrea Di Stefano has picked an Oscar winning heavyweight to take on the role of Escobar.
Paradise Lost, which filmmaker Di Stefano also scripted, has yet to receive an official release date.
