The second season of HBO hit True Detective is more discussed than most double homicides and it hasn’t even started filming yet.
In fact, creator Nic Pizzolatto has only just turned in the script for the first episode and The Wrap has the skinny on what fans can expect.
Despite all the talk of three leads, including a female detective, the site tweeted that the first segment will centre upon one male lead.
Here is The Wrap’s tweet:
#TrueDetective Twitter EXCLU: The 1st script for 2nd season is IN & agency sources tell us it features one MALE lead & male/female co-stars.
If true, this doesn’t necessarily mean that other leads won’t feature later on in the season. Indeed, Pizzolatto himself stated in May that “Right now, we're working with three leads”.
However, the report does give credence to the rumor that Brad Pitt will join the cast, as it is conceivable that an actor of his star power may want the first episode to himself.
The first season of the drama starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as two dysfunctional detectives attempting to solve a case involving a serial killer. Pizzolatto recently revealed that he does not envisage making more than three seasons.
Stay tuned for more True Detective season 2 news.
