The production of Bond 24 has been pushed back once again, this time because of script rewrites.
According to The Daily Mail, director Sam Mendes, who helmed the sublime Skyfall, wants more humor added to John Logan’s script and has enlisted writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade to administer a polish.
As a result, filming has been pushed back from October to December, which could effect the November 2015 release date.
The Skyfall sequel was initially delayed in order to let Mendes fulfill his theatre commitments.
However, considering the critical and commercial success of Skyfall, which grossed over $1-billion worldwide, it’s no surprise that the studio is letting the American Beauty filmmaker take his time over the project.
Reports suggest that Mendes wants the screenplay to have more comedic interplay between Daniel Craig’s Bond and Ralph Fiennes’ M, and also Naomie Harris's Miss Moneypenny.
Writers Purvis and Wade have actually been involved in the franchise since The World is Not Enough (1999) and have worked on all three Daniel Craig films.
There have also been reports that the studio want Bond 25 and 26 to be filmed back-to-back, although there is still no confirmation on this.
The consensus surrounding Bond 24 is that if Mendes and Craig are involved then it will be worth the wait. Also, considering the latter’s age -- he is 46-years-old now -- and the director’s busy schedule, then filming the next two sequels together might be a good idea.
Stay tuned for more Bond 24 news.
