It’s a busy day for Marvel news! First we got a brand new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy and now we have some spy video of The Avengers: Age of Ultron!
Click here for the photos and here for the video.
There’s some possible spoilers ahead– you have been warned.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron seems to pick up where Captain America: The Winter Soldier left off. Namely that the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.) has been destroyed from within by Hydra, and Tony Stark is looking at picking up the pieces.
There are things that are pretty explicitly stated in the films and there are rumors about what happens in Age of Ultron in regards to S.H.I.E.L.D. We do know that Maria Hill has taken up a job with Stark Industries, and according to her appearance on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., they’re trying to privatize global security.
The rumor mill has been reporting that Mr. Stark will be building an army of Iron Men like he did in Iron Man 3 lead by the Avengers to take care of any threats that will be showing up. This new spy video taken on the UEA Campus Norwich in England shows a group of what can only be described as recruits which will probably be the used for the support teams. Position them around the world so that way they can report back and have an Avenger or two show up to deal with the situation. Or maybe just an Iron Man drone?
Another interesting question is whether these teams are going to be called S.H.I.E.L.D. at all. In the ABC series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury passed on command to Phil Coulson. The Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out in early May which is around where season 2 of the tv series will climax so is Coulson going to figure into this film? Are these two separate organizations that have nothing to do with each other or are they in fact the same and the next season of AoS will figure into this?
Mostly, everyone (including me) wants a reunion between Coulson and the rest of the Avengers.
We also have Thor, Tony Stark and Captain America having a conversation that ends with Thor calling down lightning with Mjolnir. It looks like he calls down the thunder so he can fly off afterwards and from what I can see on Steve Rogers’ face, the conversation didn’t go the way Stark and Captain wanted it to go.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron premieres in theaters on May 1st, 2015.
