We got our first spy set pics from the Star Wars set yesterday and we get a second look today! This time revealing the construction of a full scale Millennium Falcon!
TMZ has once again got its hands on spy photos of the famous ship, so check them out there.
News came out earlier this year that they would be constructing Han Solo’s ‘old girl,’ so it’s nice to see it again. I always felt that the prequel trilogy should have featured the Millennium Falcon in something more than a cameo — like maybe use it to smuggle Padme and Anakin from Coruscant to Naboo, instead of just a transport freighter.
We also get to see the warthog creature being built from the previous spy pics but it looks like that’s at a different studio. There’s also a large structure in that studio which could be the facade for a building or maybe even a hanger bay– it’s very incomplete so it’s hard to tell.
The final bit of useful info from these images is we get a look at a full scale X-Wing being built! With all the other designs they’re reusing it makes sense that we’ll see an X-Wing again, but it is 30 years later so the fighter could have been decommissioned. I seriously hope we get to see Mark Hamill fly that thing.
Speaking of reusing designs, the Star Wars twitter account tweeted this Ralph McQuarrie painting of Jabba’s palace for Return of the Jedi.

The gateway for the entrance looks remarkably like a structure seen in the first set of spy photos. It looks like JJ Abrams and company are combing over Ralph McQuarrie’s old concept designs to use on the new trilogy. The creative team is really trying to keep the aesthetic of the original trilogy and using unused concepts from that time period is probably an excellent way to go.
Star Wars: Episode VII premieres December 18, 2015.
