Each canvas beckons Shanna Lee Stanton's imagination, where vibrant hues of inspiration dance and infuse her soul with creativity. Since childhood, creativity has been her constant companion, pushing the boundaries of exploration and discovery in her artwork. Shanna's professional journey began at Winthrop University, graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. It was during her first gallery exhibition at McLauren Gallery that she discovered her deep-seated passion for creative exploration. As a resident and studio artist with Artworks in Beaufort, SC, Shanna showcased her art at the Gallery of Beaufort and exhibited extensively within the Arts Council of Beaufort County at Artworks, where she was a resident exhibiting artist. Her dedication to art education led her to teach Grant-funded after-school programs, college summer classes, and various school district art programs, imparting skills ranging from drawing to painting.
Upon moving to California in 2009, Shanna found fulfillment teaching abstract acrylic painting at Old Poway Park in Poway, CA, and a more technical approach to students in the Greater San Diego area. Certified as both a Grumbacher and Koh-I-Nor Fine Art Instructor, she brought her passion for artistic education to every class. She also taught privately in her home studio while creating and filming with Abstract Productions. Her artwork was featured in juried exhibitions, Artwalks, and exhibitions across Northern and Southern California. Notably, her piece "All Alone in Solitude" won the People’s Choice Award at her first Northern California exhibition and was later featured at The Green Herring Gallery in Beaufort, SC, during her time in San Diego. As a member of the North County Society of Fine Arts and the Escondido Art Partnership, Shanna was prominently featured in San Diego Talent Magazine, Numinous Magazine, and Talk of San Diego. She also had the honor of showcasing her work at The House of Blues, San Diego, between 2013 and 2015, and exhibited her figurative work at LA Fashion Week, broadening her artistic influence and engaging with diverse audiences.
Returning to South Carolina in 2015, Shanna continued to exhibit her work in Charlotte, NC, and Atlanta, Georgia. She was featured as an artist in York County and Down Home Magazine. Assuming the role of Chairman at Gallery 120 in South Carolina, she maintained her art practice at her studio on Art of Main in North Carolina. Driven by authenticity and an unwavering passion for her craft, Shanna's artistic career thrived through educational roles, where she honed her skills while mentoring aspiring artists. Balancing her studio work in South Carolina with teaching engagements in North Carolina, she nurtured creativity and expression in her students, showcasing their talents at prestigious venues like the Mint Museum.
Amidst her artistic journey, Shanna embraces new creative directions and personal growth, eagerly anticipating the launch of a new series in Fall 2024—an evolution shaped by experiences and educational endeavors. She primarily works with acrylic paint, watercolor and mixed media, focusing on emotional expression through vibrant colors and spontaneous brushwork. A mystical aspect of Shanna's art is the spontaneous appearance of faces and forms during her creative process, adding layers of intrigue and depth to each piece. This phenomenon blurs the lines between reality and imagination, inviting viewers to delve deeper into her captivating world of art.
Excited to share her evolving body of work, Shanna Lee Stanton invites you to join her on a journey through contemporary art, promising more insights and updates into her creative process.
