I have been, primarily, an illustrator/cartoonist since I was very young. During the early part of my adult years, art had to be put on hold because life got in the way. Recently, I was incarcerated for 4 years. All the free time gave me the opportunity to be creative, express myself and brush up on skills that had become rusty over time! Since my release I've had the opportunity to be a guest speaker for 'The San Quentin Project: Nigel Poor and the Men of San Quentin State Prison' with the Milwaukee Art Museum. I combined my practical knowledge of incarceration and arts (BFA) background to inspire conversations about prison reform. I was also invited to co-facilitate and assist in the development of a philosophy course, 'Narrating Freedom: Race, Gender and Mass Incarceration', a.k.a. 'The Transformative Power of Art'
