How to Make Your Website Better

Your website is a valuable asset to your business. As more and more people turn to the internet to find the products and services they need, your website oftentimes acts as the first impression that potential customers have of your brand. You need to give off a good impression if you want people to visit and make purchases.

It’s not enough in today’s digital world to simply have a cookie-cutter website, though. With millions of websites online, yours truly needs to stand out from the rest to get the attention you want. If you currently have a website and it’s not performing as well as you’d like, here are a few tips that can help you make it better.

Ensure You Can Be Found

With so many websites on the internet, yours needs to stand out from the rest to avoid getting lost in the fray. Search engine optimization is key here. Optimizing your website makes it easier for you to rank near the top of the search results page when potential customers search for the types of products or services you sell. To optimize your website:

  • Incorporate short and long-tail keywords organically into your landing pages and content.
  • Create consistent, relevant, and valuable content (blogs, infographics, videos, etc.).
  • Repurpose old content.
  • Incorporate keywords into URLs, image file names, headers, meta descriptions, and more.
  • Build seo backlinks from other reputable sites.
  • Format pages so that they’re readable.
  • Don’t forget to include your contact information (and ensure it’s consistent on every page you place it).

Make Your Mission Known

Your mission statement tells website visitors what you’re all about. It lets potential customers know what they’ll be getting from you. You want to make your mission statement known right from the very beginning. To do this, place it where it can easily be seen. The top of your home page is an excellent location. Be sure to include what benefits your products or services can provide to your target market.

Improve the User Experience

It’s not just what’s on your website that matters. No matter how perfect your products or services, a bad experience on your website can quickly drive potential customers away. To keep them on your site, you need to ensure an optimal user experience. Ways to achieve this include:

  • Ensuring that your web pages load quickly.
  • Making sure that your website functions well on mobile platforms.
  • Making your website easy to navigate.

The better the user experience, the more likely your website visitors are to stick around and make a purchase.

Add Calls to Action

Calls to action are essential on your website. They tell your website visitors, people who are interested in what you have to offer, what they need to do next to continue the process. Your call to action might be at the end of a webpage or blog post, such as “contact us today for a quote” with a link to your contact information.

Buttons also make for effective calls to action. Users know buttons are for pushing. Adding text such as “add to basket,” “go to checkout,” or “get a quote” are all excellent ways to direct potential customers toward making a purchase. Start your calls to action with verbs for a greater impact.

Tell Visitors Who You Are

Many potential customers want to know who they’re buying from or who they’ll be working with before they commit to making a purchase. Include a page that lets your visitors know exactly who you and your team are. Provide them with some basic background information, such as your education, your experience, and some personal information. Making individual pages for each team member can also help increase your search engine rankings.

Your website is an important part of your business. Without it, potential customers might never be able to find you. Not only do you need to ensure that your website stands out, but you also need to make sure that it’s usable, provides your visitors with valuable information, and helps them decide to buy.
