If you didn’t pay attention to the title of this article then be warned! There are major spoilers ahead!
Still here? All right, don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Star Wars: Episode VIII was set to begin shooting earlier this week, but was delayed by bad weather. According to the
Irish Examiner, a group of around 100 crew and cast members were expected to shoot some scenes in Count Kerry off the coast on Skellig Michael island, but were delayed by bad weather conditions.
The location is an important clue, as that is where many of
Mark Hamill’s scenes were shot for
The Force Awakens. According to the Examiner,
Hamill was on set, meaning that Luke Skywalker almost certainly makes it out of
Episode VII alive.
It’s expected (rumored) that Hamill’s role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens won’t be a large one, and Luke Skywalker probably won’t show up until closer to the end of the film. I suspect that Hamill will have a larger role in the eighth installment of the franchise, however, after being coaxed out of hiding by the main characters in the seventh film.
This still leaves the fate of most of the other original trilogy characters up in the air, including Han, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and even Lando, who doesn’t appear in The Force Awakens. Of the new cast, it’s all but certain that Daisy Ridley will be returning, and I don’t expect any of the three leads to be killed off in the first film of this new trilogy.
Star Wars: Episode VIII will premiere in theaters on May 26, 2017, while Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in just 3 months on December 18, 2015.
