Despite being a relative newcomer to the Marvel Comics world, character Jessica Jones has landed herself her very own Netflix series. The superhero-turned-detective will debut in a 13-episode series carrying her name. The show debuts November 20, 2015.
The streaming service has also released a teaser trailer, which despite not containing any footage from the show, does set the dark tone and style of the project nicely.
The cast is impressive with Breaking Bad's Krysten Ritter taking on the title role, with support from David Tennant (Doctor Who), Carrie-Ann Moss (The Matrix), and Mike Colter (The Good Wife) as Luke Cage, who will have his own series soon.
The show will center on Jones as she begins her career as a New York detective after her failed attempt to become a superhero.
The cast will take part in a Q&A panel at New York Comic Con on October 10th, ahead of the show's debut on November 20, 2015.
Created by showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, Marvel will be hoping to continue its unprecedented streak of adapting lesser known characters to the big and small screen.
Last summer, Guardians of the Galaxy, based on the little-known comic, hit screen and eventually grossed $774 million worldwide.
The Disney-owned company also released Ant-Man this year, earning a modest $394 million worldwide.
On the small the screen, the studio has enjoyed successes including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Daredevil, which is another Netflix original series. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist will all have their own shows, which will culminate in The Avengers-style show, The Defenders.
